The Pilatus PC-12 is a popular and versatile aircraft known for its exceptional performance and even more so for its comfortable cabin. As travelers consider this aircraft for their business trips or personal travels, one common question that arises is whether it has a lavatory on board. As a crucial component to a multi-hour trip, we understand why this is a popular question. Statistically, if you poll Pilatus owners and family members, it is in the top 3 things they mention they love about the Pilatus. So, the answer is yes, the Pilatus PC-12 has a bathroom on board.
Basics of the PC-12 Lavatory
The Pilatus PC-12 is indeed equipped with a lavatory, making it a convenient choice for passengers who value comfort and privacy during their journeys. The lavatory is located at the front of the cabin and is designed to optimize the available space without compromising the overall layout and seating capacity.
This built-in lavatory offers several benefits to passengers. First and foremost, it provides a sense of convenience, especially during long flights, where quick access to restroom facilities can make a significant difference in comfort. It also eliminates the need for making in-flight bathroom stops, thereby saving time and reducing potential disruptions to the travel schedule.
The lavatory in the Pilatus PC-12 is well-appointed and features essential amenities, such as a flushing toilet, mirror, light, oxygen mask and additional storage space for toiletries. The interior is typically designed with an emphasis on functionality, ensuring a pleasant experience for passengers. The next closest in-flight restroom experience is that of the restroom on a Cessna Sovereign or light jet, you will not find a lavatory of this size on any other turboprop.
Tips and Tricks to Using the Lavatory
As frequent PC-12 pilots and passengers, we have some tips and tricks for using the bathroom in a PC-12. When it comes down to it, unless you’re over 6’5”, using this toilet is a breeze. However, gentlemen, if you’re over 5’10” you may have to sit or take a knee.
Worried about close quarters in stinky situations? Luckily, if there happens to be any smell, it’s prevented from reaching the cabin due to the environmental system in the aircraft.
How to Empty the Lavatory in the PC-12
The often-overlooked part of the experience, but certainly worth the benefit of having one, is emptying the lavatory in a PC-12. Here is the best way to potty train your pilot:
It’s all in the preparation! Things you might need when cleaning the PC-12 lavatory:
- Lysol Wipes
- Large cup with handle
- Small bottle of dish soap
- Disposable Gloves
- Sanitation Crystals
Store the cap for the honey pot in the drawer below. Place the cap on the honeypot before you remove it. Make sure the wire handles are both on one side when you dump it. Keep a large cup with a handle in your mooring bag for rinsing with water and a little dish soap. If you have access to a sink, pour a bunch of hot water in honeypot with one dollop of soap then put the cap back on, swish it around, and dump it again. Then put a small bit of water and rinse once more.
Good news is that if the honey pot overflows, or spills because of turbulence, it’s contained within the lavatory. But it may require some extra TLC on land. We always provide wipes, Lysol, paper towels, rubber gloves and other cleaning necessities for our clients and their pilots. Make sure the lavatory is wiped down and the flushing container is properly filled with crystals when you replace the honeypot.
At the end of the day…
The Pilatus PC-12 does come equipped with a lavatory, making it a convenient and practical option for travelers seeking a versatile aircraft with all the necessary amenities. Whether for short hops or longer journeys, the presence of a lavatory enhances the overall travel experience, reaffirming the PC-12’s reputation as a high-performance aircraft that prioritizes passenger comfort and convenience. The PC-12 lavatory will be a huge asset whether you’re taking a 6-hour flight, or 6 golfing buddies and a case of beer.
